Hallelujah è una canzone scritta da Leonard Cohen. È stata registrata per la prima volta nel 1984 nell'album Various Positions. Nel 1994 Jeff Buckley ha inciso una cover di questa canzone che oggi è risultata essere più conosciuta dell'originale.
Il testo della canzone si presta a varie interrpetazioni tanto che si è discusso a lungo sul reale significato attribuito a questa canzone da parte di Cohen.
Poche canzoni, come Hallelujah, sono state interpretate da tanti cantanti diversi. La versione di maggiore successo, da molti considerata superiore all'originale, è quella di Jeff Buckley nel suo album Grace del 1994.
Altra versione famosa è quella di John Cale, piano e voce, pubblicata nel 1991 nell'album-tributo a Leonard Cohen I'm Your Fan.

Hallelujah è spesso utilizzata in televisione e nei film per accompagnare scene drammatiche. È stata utilizzata nelle colonne sonore dei seguenti film: Basquiat, The Edukators, Sballati d'amore, Shrek, Saint Ralph, Deliver Us from Evil, Kissed by Winter, Barfuss, Lord of War e When Night is Falling.

insomma.. questa canzone ha una storia lunga dietro le spalle... e merita di essere conosciuta, cantata, suonata e per che no che sia versata anche una lacrimuccia al suo ascolto... lascio a voi l'interpretazione, ognuno credo possa vederla come vuole. come dicono le note di wikipedia si è discusso molto sul vero significato della cnazone. ma credo che alla fine ognuno possa dare il suo.

ps: ho messo la versione di Rufus Wainwright perche è quella che preferisco... ditemi anche quella che vi piace di più se ne avete sentite altre
